Elopements

Rainy Kahala Beach Elopement in Oahu, Hawaii

This elopement at Kahala Beach in Oahu, Hawaii was the sweetest, most intimate ceremony a girl could ask for on her special day. Though elopements aren’t able to have that big, special party with hundreds of people attending, a dancefloor for you, or an extravagant array of food, it’s just as meaningful—if not more!

Alexis and Lonnie had their beach elopement with their family members attending. Everyone wore black guest attire while Alexis had a satin white a-line wedding dress with a slit, and Lonnie with a white dress shirt and black slacks. Alexis was walked down to Lonnie by her father, carrying a red-jewel toned wedding bouquet. It was cloudy earlier on, but it began lightly raining during the ceremony! However, this didn’t stop the couple’s plans to get married, but rather made some fun memories for them to look back on.

After the ceremony, Alexis and Lonnie jumped a broom upon walking to their friends and family. You can read more about this tradition here but the act “symbolizes a new beginning and a sweeping away of the past, and can also signify the joining of two families or offer a respectful nod to family ancestors.” This was such a small, but important detail that truly made Alexis and Lonnie’s elopement their own.

The sun came out as the ceremony ended! I was able to grab Alexis and Lonnie for some private shots of the two as newly weds. These have to be the cutest newlywed photos I’ve ever captured! Scroll to the bottom where you can see a gif of Alexis and Lonnie walking along the beach as I took pictures of them.

Elopements might be the best thing to happen for you on your wedding day. Think—you get to be with your friends and family, no huge party, just simple and even perfect for people who get overwhelmed easily. Do what’s best for you on your wedding day.
